Any excuse I have to use mason jars and patterned straws provides for a really good day in my life. It's the little things in life that make me smile. My life is not this sad. I just like bright, colorful props and crafts. ;) I go crazy (absolutely frantic) over patterned straws, and usually stock up when Pick Your Plum decides to sell them for 75% off. Pick Your Plum will eventually ruin me. I promise you this. If you've never visited this delightful little website, do yourself a favor, and don ...

Happy first day of Spring guys! Are you all as excited as I am for blue skies and warmer temperatures?! We are lucky enough to live in an area where, for the most part, the sun is always shining, and the chance of rain is scarce. This is one of the many things I love about living in Colorado. You just can't beat the weather. Sure we get some snow, but it's usually gone the next day. For the most part our winters are pretty mild, and I just love this. So anyway, lets talk breakfast. I love this r ...

Zach is a sucker for boneless, skinless chicken thighs, as am I. When they go on sale, forget about it. We stock up for decades. I feel like boneless, skinless chicken thighs are always second to chicken breast though. Personally, I think they have a ton more flavor and are wayyyyyy more delicious. I feel bad for them sometimes. =( Really, I do. But anyway, this isn't a memoir about my love for chicken thighs. This recipe is delicious. There's no way around it. It's simple and quick and can be o ...

So how many of us are excited that it's Monday?! Not. I miss the weekend already. Believe it or not, even though I work from home, I do enjoy the time I get to spend with Zach over the weekend, since he goes to work everyday. It was sooo beautiful here too, and we have just been soaking up all this glorious weather and warm sunshine. The "sunshine" is what inspired this recipe. I really wanted some nice and light, but hearty and sweet for breakfast/snack-time this week. These whole wheat raspber ...

I only have 3 words for these cookies: knock...me...dead. I really think these may have been the best cookies that have ever come out of my oven. They are moist, chewy, fudgy, delicious, spectacular, fantastic, addicting, orgas...you get the picture. ;) They are simple too! Who doesn't love simple?! The dough requires just a little bit of chilling time (but what dough doesn't need chilling time these days?). They are huge...you were forewarned, but they are so worth the extra calories. I will be ...

For the past two years, baking cakes and I have not gotten along; like whole cakes, not cupcakes. Cupcakes have always worked perfectly. I think it's because of their "itty-bittyness." It took me almost 2 years to finally perfect baking cakes at high altitude (btw I live in Colorado, if you didn't know already). I can't tell you enough how many times I have had to toss cakes and breads because they were burnt on the outside and still raw on the inside. It has been so frustrating, that for about ...

Quinoa has grown on me over the years. I wasn't a huge fan from the start, but overtime and with it prepared the way I like, I learned to really love the stuff. One of my favorite ways to eat it is for breakfast. Whether it's with milk and berries, or yogurt and oranges, it's delicious either way. This is one of my favorite recipes. It's simple. It's quick. It's delicious. What's not to love!? It's also a great use of leftover quinoa. I don't know about you, but I ALWAYS make too much. I don't k ...

I hope everyone had a FABULOUS weekend. It was gorgeous here in Colorado. It was sunny and in the 70s. The peaks were covered in snow, and it was one of the best views of the Front Range I've seen in quite a while. I pretty much spent my Sunday packing some things up around the house. We are getting closer and closer to the big move! Eek! So exciting! So anyway, let's talk food, shall we? I know I have talked endlessly of this, but I get so much satisfaction when I can eat something lemony! Unfo ...

I'm a HUGE sucker for a good homemade pretzel. I love them. There are a couple of breweries in the area that serve them right along side their special brews, and this has to be one of my favorite combos in the world! Nothing beats a warm, soft pretzel straight out of the oven. I've made pretzels before, quite a few times actually, but never have I made a traditional pretzel. I've always taken the easy way out and made them into bites. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and if you've never made ...

As Zach and I prepare to move, I keep coming to the realization that I have an insane amount of work to do. If there is one thing I hate in this world (besides my piece of crap electric stove), it's packing and moving...oh and unpacking. I hate that too. Since we are about a month away from the big day, I thought I'd get a head start on things. I'm actually making pretty good progress (which is awesome), but then I got to the kitchen; and I seriously wanted to cry. I've made it my personal goal ...
