I'm a HUGE sucker for a good homemade pretzel. I love them. There are a couple of breweries in the area that serve them right along side their special brews, and this has to be one of my favorite combos in the world! Nothing beats a warm, soft pretzel straight out of the oven. I've made pretzels before, quite a few times actually, but never have I made a traditional pretzel. I've always taken the easy way out and made them into bites. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, and if you've never made ...

As Zach and I prepare to move, I keep coming to the realization that I have an insane amount of work to do. If there is one thing I hate in this world (besides my piece of crap electric stove), it's packing and moving...oh and unpacking. I hate that too. Since we are about a month away from the big day, I thought I'd get a head start on things. I'm actually making pretty good progress (which is awesome), but then I got to the kitchen; and I seriously wanted to cry. I've made it my personal goal ...

I find that I come up with the best snacks when I have a bunch of food in the fridge I need to get rid of. These skillet nachos just happen to be a perfect solution to this little problem. I had half of a pork shoulder I needed to use up. -- If you are wondering why there was half a raw pork shoulder left in my fridge, well the original pork shoulder was a gazillion pounds. With just Zach and I living here, there was no way that we were going to be able to eat a gazillion pounds of pork in just ...

Well, Valentine's Day is right around the corner, and there's nothing I love more than themed sweet treats. I'm not so gung-ho about Valentine's Day in general, but I'm pretty gung-ho when it comes to themed sprinkles and cupcake liners. It's all about the accessories. The only problem with this, is that I become a serious accessory hog. I had Zach stop at the grocery store just yesterday just to wipe them out of their Valentine's Day-themed accessories. Hey, they were on sale! You have to stock ...

How is that for some alliteration?! Just like everyone else, I get some crazy cravings. Sometimes these cravings are out of control. Pretty much, all at the same time, I wanted bang bang shrimp that was beer battered. I didn't want to fry anything because, let's be honest, that can be a serious pain (the oil...the heating of the oil...the cleaning of the oil...etc). This recipe was a real winner. We ended up making a taco out of them, but they can be eaten any which way. They are incredibly easy ...

As January comes to an end, I'm pretty sure that all we are thinking about around here is football and the Superbowl. I've been on a kind of football food craze here lately, and today was no different. I tried to keep it light and fresh today when I was playing around with some recipes, and these baked pretzel-crusted chicken tenders made it to the top of the list. They were super delicious and super fun. They were super fun because anything you get to eat with your fingers is fun in my book! Th ...

You can't have the Superbowl with wings, and you can't have wings without the Superbowl. Well, actually that's not quite true. You can have wings all year round, and it would be totally ok. Let's just say that wings are 100% necessary on game day. They are the perfect indulgence. Wings are great because you can feed a lot of people for a little amount of money and effort. Instead of making the traditional buffalo wing this past weekend (the one with the Frank's Red Hot and butter ... which is al ...

My dad was here for Christmas and just left us late last night. We had such a great time, and we are sad that he his heading back to the East coast. I've tried to talk him into moving to Colorado. I feel like I'm making some headway, or maybe that's just happening in my mind. ;) I'd like to think that he would move out here someday! So anyway, with his visit, he brought one of my favorite little snacks. They aren't anything crazy. They are insanely easy to make, but they are soooo scrumptious an ...

So, I'm not going to lie to you. These are heavenly bundles of cheese and carbohydrates, but we all know that we are trying to have that last big hurrah of unhealthy foods before the New Year begins. Why not go out with a bang? I'm trying to convince myself that it's ok. It's partially working. This will be one of my last posts for the holidays. I know, it's so sad. On the bright side, I will have some delicious healthy recipes up on the blog next week to help you all fulfill those New Year's Re ...

I'll let you guys in on a little secret, I absolutely hate making apple pie. The problem is that I love to EAT apple pie. I've tried to make it in the past, and let's just be honest, it isn't a walk in the park. It's especially difficult when you make your own pie crust, and I've never been super successful at making my own pie crust. I have decided to come up with a recipe for this Thanksgiving that still gives my guests and I that great apple pie flavor, without actually making an apple pie. M ...
